Microsoft’s plan to save the Zune

The Microsoft Zune is a venerable music player, but at 2 million units sold vs Apple’s 150 million iPods sold it hasn’t taken much of the market share. Microsoft is trying to bring their Zune back to life by including Windows Mobile 7 and Vista into the strategy.  Analysts say this plan still won’t work however. They cite the missteps Microsoft did when it came to the introduction of their Zune music player. They also cite that selling music just isn’t that profitable anymore, and by including Windows Mobile 7 it will just create more problems that will take way too long to overcome, especially now that the iPhone is such a success. By the time Microsoft gets their act together it will be too little too late.
