Microsoft takes Zune to creative Crispin

Microsoft Zune

Microsoft is feeling the pressure of the holiday season that they have decided to go to MDC Partners’ Crispin Porter & Bogusky, the marketing firm behind the Jerry Seinfeld/Bill Gates and the “I’m a PC” advertisements, to help with marketing for the Zune player. Before Crispin, marketing firm T.A.G. was in charge of the Zune. But it is quite obvious that Microsoft feels they need to step it up. Adam Sohn, Zune’s marketing director, said the following:

“They have a lot of credibility working with upstart challenger brands, and in the MP3 space that’s what we are,” battling Apple’s far more popular iPod, he said.

We have always felt the Zune player is a great MP3 player, but it just lacked great marketing. Just take a look at the marketing for the Apple iPod. Although the Apple iPod is far more popular, with better marketing, the Zune can take a charge in the MP3 market.
