No Zune phone, just a phone with Zune features
Rumors of a Zune phone have been squashed by Microsoft recently. Many said that they will debut it at CES next month but Microsoft was quick to deny it. A new mobile phone, that is not a Zune, is said to be in the works at Microsoft however. Cnet is saying that talk in the geek groups of Seattle have been about a new phone from Microsoft. It won’t be a Zune phone, but a phone with many of the features of a Zune. It won’t be called a Zune phone most likely, but instead it will be a phone that can interact with the Zune Marketplace and play music and videos. It will surely feature Windows Mobile as well. Rumors in the Seattle area also say that members of the Zune team have switched over to the Windows Mobile team to help with the UI of the new phone. This doesn’t mean that it will be a Zune phone however, they could just be helping to improve the Windows Mobile interface which could use an update. What we do know is that Microsoft has to do something and do it quick it if they want to beat Apple.
