Will Microsoft give the Zune VoIP capabilities?
Although the Zune phone rumors have been put in the back burner, people are still speculating as to what Microsoft will be introducing at the Consumer Electronics Show 2009. People are now suspecting that Microsoft is set to add Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, capabilities to the next generation of Zunes. Back in October, a Microsoft job advertisement was spotted that was asking for candidates that had “experience with human interface and navigation models requiring engineering prototypes of dpads, switches, accelerometers, touch screen input variables” and “sensibility for mobile communications and entertainment applications.” Now people may think this sounds like a job to design a Zune Phone. But instead of a Zune phone, people are speculating that it is a job to design VoIP capabilities for the next Zune. So although this may not be what people are looking for, VoIP capabilities via Wi-Fi connections would be the next best thing we can expect with the Microsoft Zune.
