how do I connect my zune hd to windows media player?

I just bought my Zune HD. I put in a CD into my disc drive and ripped it into my windows media player. I then moved the cd to the sync. It’s telling me to connect a device but my Zune says it’s connected. Any help please?

Zunes can’t be synced with Windows Media Player. They have their own software which can be downloaded here: http://www.zune.net/en-us/products/software/download/

You need to use the Zune software to sync any songs to your Zune. After you install it should auto-detect the new songs you ripped (if you ripped the CD to your “My Music” folder). You can then sync them to your Zune.

Use the link below to download the Zune software.

The unfortunate fact is that currently you cannot simply sync your Zune HD using WMP. You must use the Zune software that can be found on their website.
This was a frustrating discovery for me, because all my music is organized, rated, and playlist-ed in WMP11. However, I did some searching on the internets and I found a program called Z-Alternator. Here’s the link on ZuneBoards:

This is a great program, allowing the Zune to appear to the computer as a normal MP3-Player, sync-able via Windows Media Player. Awesome, huh?!

P.S. If ZuneBoards won’t let you access this link without creating a profile on the site, I suggest you do that… there’s a lot of information here that I’ve found really helpful for Zune users. Good luck!

Zunes don’t work with WMP without a hack to get it to work. But the Zune software is so nice and has some really nice music discovery tools and syncing options that you won’t want to miss out on. Once you install Zune software then you can go to your Collection settings and set the watched folder the same as what WMP uses if you like. Its a great device and software combo.
