How hard is it really to reformat itunes for the ZUNE?
I want to buy an mp3 player – the Zune’s are more attractive to me than the ipods. I’ve always been a mac person, but I can’t afford my own mac notebook – so I run a simple pc.
Refurbished zunes are cheaper and have more gb compaired to the ipod nano 8gb 3rd gen. I think the new ipod nanos look stupid.
But I am worried about changing my music – how hard is it?

Zunes can play AAC music files, which is what iTunes music is encoded as, so there isn’t a need to change the format. The problem you’ll run into is if you bought songs before March, most of them contain DRM (Digital rights management) which prevents them from being played on anything other than an iPod. You can remove this by paying $0.30 per song in iTunes to have it removed but that’s kind of a rip off. You can buy a program called Tunebite and use that to remove the DRM. I’ve never used that so I can’t really vouch for it. Or you can burn the songs to a CD and rip them back onto your computer. This is what I’ve always done but if you have a large collection (250+ songs) it might be a good idea to look into Tunebite.
